Enjoyable commentary - they points out the continuity errors and mishaps. Nice and chatty too - no real gaps.

This is one of the commentaries I return to from time to time. Director Stephen Sommers and editor Bob Ducsay, obviously very comfortable after having worked with each other on several films, chat about the various elements of production and joke about what's happening on screen. Very light and breezy, with some humorous anecdotes and very few lulls.

In typical Stephen Sommers fashion, this commentary is light-hearted, quick-paced and informative. Lots of solid information as the two friends point out continuity errors and talk about the harsh realities of filming a movie like this. Highly recommend it for anyone who's a fan of this movie, Sommers' movies or commentaries in general.

FUN FACTS:

-The opening establisher shot (where the camera cranes down to reveal the Sphynx, the workers, pyramids, etc.) was $200,000 alone.

-During the sequence where Imhotep's mind-controlled hordes are converging on the heroes, there is one particular extra who had to have his eyes digitally glossed over because apparently he couldn't stop looking at the camera.

-They reused one close-up shot of Oded Fehr as Ardeth Bay. The first one happened during the day, and the reused take was colour-corrected for night and the subtitle of what he says was changed, even though the words he speaks are the exact same.
