This commentary does in fact seem to be the same one as on the original DVD release, it certainly features the same contributors (and judging by some of the comments it was originally recorded for an earlier laser disc release). Either way, it's a very relaxed affair with much laughter evoked by memories of filming various scenes. No-one dominates the track and while, as director, Craven clearly has the most to contribute, he's more than happy to let Heather Langencamp talk just as much, and she comes across as every bit as likeable in real life as the character she plays in the film. All of which makes for an undemanding and enjoyable track.
Commentary 2: Actor Robert Englund Rating:7.3/10 (3 votes) [graph]Login to vote or review

This track is exclusive to the 2-disc set and actually features 15 contributors! They are (in the order they appear): director Wes Craven, producer Robert Shaye, co-producer Sara Risher, actress Amanda Wyss, actress Heather Langencamp, cinematographer Jacques Haitkin, editor Rick Shaine, actor Robert Englund, author/film historian David Del Valle, special make-up FX artist David Miller, actress Ronnie Blakley, SFX designer Jim Doyle, associate producer John Burrows, co-editor Patrick McMahon, and composer Charles Bernstein. And as they're introduced not just by name but also with their role in the making of the film each and every time they speak it does make for a very disjointed commentary. However, as in the film itself, they all make a vital contribution (even if some are only there to comment on one or two specific scenes/incidents) making for a very informative track which fans of the film will certainly want to hear at least once.

It's a very informative commentary and worth listening to certainly, it's just a bit dull at times. Each person talks individually and is repeatedly introduced with their title beforehand, it tends to make for a monotonous commentary at times.
