Really good commentary track with John Singleton. He does come off a little too self-aggrandizing through the whole thing. He makes quite a few unflattering comments about the various actors in the movie, and dishes about his relationship with his girlfriend at the time, Tyra Banks. Worth a listen. The commentary almost made me think I enjoyed the movie. Almost.

Agreed. Self-aggrandizing track to be sure. But this brother keeps it real. He clearly had a vision and made it. This film just doesn't get made today. Great insights include getting dissed by USC, acting choices by his man Larry Fishburne, and the apparent weaknesses of his lead actress Kristy Swanson. Singleton is uncompromising and is worth a listen on any track he records.
So what if he mentions his relationship with Tyra Banks at least half a dozen times. When it comes to directing her love/death scenes, you could imagine the inherent struggle. Besides, if I ever date a Victoria's Secret model in her prime, I'd probably mention it a few times as well. Great track. 8/10
