This is a commentary that is fun, not too serious, definitely a hard R, like the film. The track is somewhat informative but not film school track. Baruchel and Dowse talking filming in Winnipeg, which had no NHL team at the time. Still to use the same arena as the minor league team they had to shoot overnight. They speak to choreography of the hockey scenes, training for the actors, and the techniques used in the filming of these scenes. They point out special effects used to modify uniforms or arenas, or how some facial injuries had to be added using vfx when they moved scenes around. They delve into aspects of Canadian music and culture, as well as hockey culture. They are well-versed in the who is who, revealing details on the background of the actors, some former players, and their involvement with hockey. They hint at an unnamed actor they do not like but do not name the person. Dowse and Baruchel have a good rapport and apparently a good working relationship. Baruchel was very much involved in bringing this film to fruition and went on to direct the sequel. (The Goon sequel is not in the database of this site, but the commentary flows much like this one.)
