With so many people, one would expect it to be too crowded and noisy, but this doesn't seem to be anyone's first commentary, so they know to be polite and allow each other to speak unless a momentary opportunity comes up in the film. There are many great stories, and JJ is fun to listen to as usual.

This is confusing as you don't know who's talking half the time. A few of them sound exactly like Jonah Hill which was even more confusing. They do get to the point and give you some good info. It just could have done with less people.
It was interesting to find out just how much was cut from the movie and the fact that time and money were saved from building sets by using such places as the Van Nuys budweiser brewery to stand in for the lower hull of the enterprise, complete with giant beer vats. Very noticeable once it's pointed out and pretty frickin daring.
A lot is explored and it's well worth listening to for getting some inside info about this remarkable film. I just watched it again to see if it was as good as I remember. It was even better.

As Station51 above me said, it can get confusing at times because many of the participants sound alike. I've listened to a half-dozen commentaries with Orci and Kurtzman, and I can never tell them apart, ha ha. JJ's easy enough to pick out because he'stheone who hasahabitofspeaking pretty quickly forsomereason.

Despite that, this is a VERY good commentary. Just enough people wearing different hats that they don't run out of things to talk about. And they're casual enough to be able to crack jokes and make fun of each other for things (Orci quips that Alex will want to talk about something that happened 10 minutes ago, someone brings up JJ and his lens flares).

Highly recommend this for any fan of Abrams' work, sci-fi or Star Trek.

Well worth the listen, as it makes you appreciate how good the film looks and works, considering they make it sound like it was quickly put together with lots of experimentation and switching of gears of what they hoped to accomplish.

It is weird the little details they point out, as having put a lot of time into, and how many other things they just threw out there and hoped it would work.

But overall, it is informative, entertaining, points out back stories that did not come through well in the movie, and a bit surprising. Definitely worth a listen.
