Plain...Dull...Not only the track is a mash-up of a separate commentary recorded by David Lean's widow and Sharif and another one recorded by Steiger, but the two commentaries come back and forth in a very weird, sometimes confusing way. Even putting that aside, it's quite hard to sit through more than 3 hours of the usual random reminiscences and impressions, wating for substantial information about the making of the movie that never comes. A few of the individual reminiscences are interesting, such as when Lean's widow and Sharif discuss whether or not he was Lean's first choice of a leading man and then he goes on to talk about his casting on Lawrence of Arabia, but the commentary as a whole is very frustrating as a companion for a David Lean movie. Steiger is very laid-back and funny, but speaks almost exclusively about his character and doesn't impart anything truly interesting, either.
