Interesting commentary for a dire film. But at least this chat track dishes out many of the reasons for the film being awful.
Its recommended just to hear the things that we never saw.
For example. The film was originally 134 minutes long and cut down to around 85 with subplots and large scenes being removed with what sounds like blunt scissors.

A rare commentary that is much better than the film and offers apologies from the screenwriter for the way the film turned out! The discussion talks about the original screenplay and how it differs from the final product; the lack of money to produce the film; what went wrong, etc.

This was quite interesting for someone like me who did'nt know the story behind the tragedy of Superman IV. I never understood how the effects could be so much worse than in the first one that was made almost ten years earlier.

However, the really juicy stuff is portioned out in small doses, with quite long periods of silence or mundane recollections interspearsed throughout. I think it would have been more effective to produce a thorough "making of" docummentary with interviews and the lot.

It's good to hear the commentator being so blunt about the whole thing though, and he some itneresting things to say.

A pretty good track for what is a rubbish superhero movie. Which is one of my most hated movies I own. I liked it almost made up for this movie!

Well this was decent though maybe not quite the revelation I'd heard it was. His complaints are well founded but he comes on a bit strong and should have tried to balance his speaking more. He does pay a lot of compliments to the cast and highlights what does work in the film (yes there are a few things). He does talk about a lot of interesting things such as trying to get Richard Donner back and what was cut out. I would have liked to have heard more about why the film failed (both artistically and financially) but you can read between the lines fairly easily here especially after listening to all the other commentaries on the Superman box. There a few pauses but overall a solid commentary. 6/10
