An excellent commentary. It is always a pleasure to listen to Alan Jones and Kim Newman and this track relates so much information about Argento's famous giallo that it would take a number of listenings to absorb every detail. I'm not a particular fan of Bird With The Crystal Plumage - I feel Argento far surpassed it with later hits like Deep Red and Tenebrae, and therefore I found the commentary much more enjoyable that the film itself!

I would agree about the commentary being better than the film. I like BwtCP fine as a film, but the commentary is incredible. It's a great conversation piece that explores all kinds of subjects and greatly broadened my interest in the genre, it's origins and even the film itself. I'm trying to track down other commentaries with Newman because he really propels the conversation without actually dominating it. A great listen.
