A commentary about a film which is already a commentary about a film is pretty redundant, but as director Les Blank only ever makes documentaries (and this is his most well-known), he obviously figured this was going to be his one shot at making a commentary track. If you've seen the film, which is a natural assumption of anyone interested enough to listen to this track, then you'll already have been exposed to most of the information on it. Just to compound things, the subject of the documentary (Herzog's FITZCARRALDO) already has a lengthy commentary track of its own to fill in everything you'd want to know. Gosling is content mostly to talk about memories of being on location, and the only new items of interest are when Blank and Herzog discuss something other than the documentary (Herzog mentions his then-upcoming GRIZZLY MAN near the end).
