This might be the most distasteful, vile, film, ever made. I remember when "Jerry Springer" was the cultural "buzzword" of the late '90s. What's more inconceivable, and rates a 10 out of 10 on the unintentional hilarity scale, to borrow a popular columnists' trademark, is the commentary from Director Abramson that accompanies this horror show. You'd swear you're listening to Bogdonavich talk about "Last Picture Show." The director, a transplant from South Africa, with a fresh perspective on the American pop landscape, describes scenes with an air of scholarship. Uses of handheld camera indicates a "grounded, vivid" perspective. The characters' motivations to sleep with their relatives, why, this just taps into the universal theme of human longing. I swore that this track was some joke, akin to the "Blood Simple" (1984) commentary. It is not. Unreal, what unfolds before you, watching the "Ringmaster." But, not as surreal as the commentary that follows. Wow. Oh, and "Jerry" insisted on the post-coital scene that introduces him in the 1st act, sans shirt and all. Creep-alert on high. Movie- 1/10. Commentary- Strong contender for Worst ever.
