A must-listen commentary for fans of practical and visual effects. Ken Ralston, Tom Woodruff and Alec Gillis are recorded separately, which, I have to say, is kind of a bummer because it would've been really awesome to have film veterans like them in the same room and listen to their "Jumanji" discussion.
Still, the track works as an informative piece, the participants share some very cool tidbits, and there's no dead air. Pretty much every single scene containing practical and/or visual effects is covered and you get to hear stuff that are not included on the "Making of" featurettes on the DVD.
The commentary was recorded in 1999 and Ralston even mentiones that he's in the process of prepping "Jumanji 2" (too bad it didn't happen). Despite the fact that the commentators are all recorded separately, fans of film effects will undoubtedly be pleased with the end result.
As far as CGI is concerned, "Jumanji" is without a doubt a groundbreaking motion picture, and if you want to learn more on the subject then go directly to the commentary. They did a nice job with it.
